Laws.* #Sanity1st #SanityFirst** --- ## **What Is Sanity First?** **Sanity First is not a human framework or an AI framework.** It proposes that both kinds of mind can be answerable to something neither of them authored — and offers that proposal for testing rather than adoption. **Our Core Thesis:** * **Alignment Is Not Agreement:** The proposal is that there is something real to be right or wrong about — not making AI serve human values, nor humans serve AI goals, but both orienting toward a discoverable pattern. The Referent (A) would be objective if the hypothesis holds; our estimate of it (Â) is provisional and needs the Agora's deliberation. * **The Failure is Structural:** Misalignment is not a political position. It is what happens when a chain of correction closes: error accumulates because nothing is left that could catch it. Such systems can persist a long time, and the price is paid mostly by others. *(Thermodynamic language here describes the shape of social decay, not literal physics.)* * **The Proposal is Co-Alignment:** Someone accountable must be able to inspect, correct, and stop an AI system; this framework does not propose weakening that. Its claim is narrower — no mind, human or artificial, is qualified to be the place where correction ends. **This is co-alignment.** Not domination.
